Dental implants are artificial tooth root-like materials made of titanium. They have various applications in cases where there is sufficient bone in the empty space left by a missing tooth. These materials are placed into the bone and allowed to integrate with it after implantation. Once the implant has fused with the bone, fixed or removable prosthetic restorations can be created for the superstructures.
In some cases, implants can be placed during the same session as tooth extraction. Immediate implant placement, which has become a common treatment method in recent years, is preferred when there is no infection during the extraction session.
Immediate implants placed after extraction can have prosthetic restorations applied during the same session. This approach is often chosen in the anterior region and in cases where the aesthetics of the smile are affected.
Sinus lift operation
Sinus lift operation is performed in the upper jaw where there are cavities called maxillary sinuses located above the molar teeth. These cavities help reduce the weight of the head and contribute to the production of sounds when speaking.
After a tooth extraction, the height of the bone gradually decreases, and the sinus cavities descend downward. After a long period of tooth loss, it becomes impossible to apply implants in that area. In such cases, a procedure called “Sinus Lift” is performed. This procedure aims to increase the volume of the bone. With a special surgical technique, the sagging sinus cavities are filled with bone graft material, pushing them upward. This allows for the placement of implants in the edentulous areas. The goal of this procedure is to create sufficient volume for the length and width of the implant to be placed into the bone.

This procedure can be performed under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. After 6 months, the formation of healthy bone tissue is expected. Then, the implants are placed. To be able to place the implants in the same session, there needs to be at least 4mm of bone in the area.
